DWAB’s “A Very Well Calculated Lack of Cohesion” is almost exactly that…. “Almost” because the “very well calculated” part is a bit misleading. Very seldom are DWAB projects well planned, and often, the ones that are planned are never executed as was planned.

The Amy Songs
Originally I was going to call this CD “Acoustic Sketches,” but as I was putting it together, Amy came into the room and jokingly asked, “Are these the Amy songs?” “Yes,” I said. “It’s just a few of them though….” And suddenly, my whole idea about the CD changed.
Rarities
Hmmm… A CD of DWAB “rarities.” These are songs that have been floating around for some time, left (perhaps very wisely) un-released. Most of these songs have been re-recorded to sound much better than what’s on this CD. So, why then go on and release a CD of inferior recordings when much better versions exist? [...]
Silly Songs and Odd Ditties
Welcome to DWAB’s collection of Silly Songs and Odd Ditties. On this CD you’ll find 14 “songs” created using only a computer. No real instruments were used. What you hear aren’t really songs, but more accurately, creations I did to allow me to get a better idea of some of the possibilities of computer music.
Sherman’s Unfiltered Music
Liner Notes
The Sherman’s box began some time towards the end of 1997. The DWAB vs. Ben 7″ was successfully completed for Christmas 1997, and I was busy thinking up a new storm ideas to keep me busy during 1998. The original home of this music, and the reason for this release being titled as it [...]
The John Lyons Sessions
For those of you who don’t get the cover/title reference, the John Lyons Sessions is a take-off on the John Peel Sessions. Anyone with an ounce of sense who wanted to get a good recording of their stuff at a decent price went to John Lyons.
One Final Episode in Our Attempts at Persistence
These DWAB songs all feature David Hanna on drums. During the recording of the vocals, John and Danny walked in on one of the songs and yelled “Aargh!” The bare bones of all of the songs were recorded by John Lyons between November 1995 and May 1996; songs 5 and 6 were not completed until [...]
The Exciting Nights of Discordant Torture
Here are some of the original liner notes to The Exciting Nights of Discordant Torture.
These notes are not included in the CD version of the release (mostly because not everything applies, and finding the space to put all the notes can be tough at times….
“Summer Entertainment” and “Preliminary”
“Summer Entertainment” recorded by Sam Bennett onto a 4-track at The Living Room. “Summer Entertainment” (minus the song Conformity) was originally released on a split cassette with Folk Songs. “Preliminary” was self recorded at 2657 Foothill Road. All songs are performed by Ananda.
